Knowledge Management (KM) as a strategy to enhance the performance in Stock Exchange: A critical analysis of Nigerian Stockbrokers
This thesis explores Knowledge Management (KM) as a strategy to enhance the Performance in Stock Exchange with the focus on the critical analysis of Nigerian Stockbrokers. Towards the end of the last century, KM has begun to gain recognition as a valuable tool to enhance performance of an organisation. In addition to these, it is also a key differentiating factor to improve performances in business organisation. In the other hand, the performances of Nigerian Stock exchange have been a concern recently because of poor decision-making process, primitive approach to internal operation, poor customer relationship management and ineffective competitive strategy. The uses of KM in the sector have only been considered as a mere introducing technology to operations, thereby neglecting the core importance of KM and the relevance of its strategic tools for performance improvements. This study evaluates KM and its strategic tools to enhance the internal operations, innovation, and competitive advantage, for improving the performance of Stockbrokers in Nigeria and critically reviews existing theoretical systems and models of KM as a strategy for improving organizational performance of Stockbrokers in Nigeria. In addition, it examines the relevance of Expert system (ES) and Case Base Reasoning (CBR) as strategic KM tools. The study also assessed the challenges and impacts of adopting Expert system (ES) and Case Base Reasoning (CBR) as strategic KM tools to enhance the internal operations, innovation, and competitive advantage for improving the performance of Stockbrokers in Nigeria.
In order to achieve these objectives, a case study strategy was employed with the application of convenience sampling method to select 16 firms through convenience sampling techniques from the list of 175 registered and active Stockbrokers in Nigeria. With data collected through questionnaire and semi-structured interview.
