In addressing the contemporary challenge of greenwashing within the corporate sector of the United Kingdom, this paper delves into the intricate relationship between corporate governance practices and the prevalence of deceptive sustainability practices. Greenwashing, characterised by the presentation of an environmentally responsible image while engaging in unsustainable activities (de Freitas Netto et al.,2020; Yang, 2020), has become a focal point due to its potential ramifications for consumer trust and environmental sustainability. There are many reasons that organisations are engaged in greenwashing such as, external drivers, market forces, organisational factors, regulatory issues, and individual level drivers (Torelli et al., 2020; Amenc et al., 2022; Duygu, and ÇANKAYA, 2023).
