Post-processing time-frequency readability enhancement of the spectrogram and the smooth-pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution
conference contribution
posted on 2023-08-08, 12:13 authored by Mohammed Amin Adoul, Barry BentleyBarry Bentley, Mansour AbedThe aim of this paper is to further improve the concentration and enhance the readability of two important time-frequency representations. The latter referred to as the spectrogram and the smoothed pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution, are enhanced using a recently proposed specific method based on image processing techniques. The enhanced representations are compared to the original TFRs and their reassigned version using several tests on real-life and synthetic multi-component signals with linear and nonlinear frequency modulation (FM) components including the noise effects. Results demonstrate the method provides a significant signal enhancement
