Impact of Digital Economy on Achieving (selected) SDGs: Evidence from Emerging Economies
This study aims to explore the opportunities, challenges, and barriers for emerging economies within the new paradigm of Digital Economy in achieving the Sustainable Goals (SDGs) as set out in 2015 by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly. Detailed analysis of the selected UN SDGs is evaluated with reference to conventional digital financial inclusion. Importantly, this paper attempts to empirically examine the impact of digitalization on selected UN SDGs of growth, poverty reduction, and inequality by applying the panel econometric estimation methods on data from 20 emerging countries for the period 2005-2020. In last, the challenges and opportunities in the adoption of the digital financial system to facilitate UN SDGs are also discussed with reference to emerging economies.
